February 25, 2009 :

On February 25, 2009, the students, teachers and staff of St. Patrick Elementary School and A.S. Johnson High School of Thetford Mines started their “Walk to Vancouver”, with the objective of arriving in time for the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in February 2010.

Of course, students will not actually walk across Canada.  Instead, all involved will carry a pedometer and participate in organized walks to accumulate the necessary steps to cover the distance across Canada.  The schools will be divided into teams that will work together to cross the finish line.  Community members will be invited to form their own team and walk alongside the school community.

Expanding our Volunteer Network

- by Hélène Doré, Volunteer Coordinator, MCDC

September 2005 : Last May as I started my new job as Volunteer Coordinator for MCDC, I realized how large the territory served by MCDC is (Amiante, Érable, Lotbinière). What a challenge and what a thrill for me to be working for and with you all. Living in the area for nearly 25 years, I have had the chance and the privilege to meet many of you through work on various committees and attendance at community, religious and social events. I have found my roots among you, in this land!
