Partners in healthA word from Normand Baker- General Manager - CSSSRTAs General Manager of the " Centre de santé et services sociaux de la région de Thetford (CSSSRT) ", I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak directly to you, through this news bulletin. As you probably already know, the CSSSRT has recently benefited from an important subsidy from Health Canada through a special program whose aim is to facilitate access to health and social services in English. I am happy to announce our active participation in this program, in partnership with the Megantic English-speaking Community Development Corporation (MCDC). Thanks to this important financial support, we are presently working at providing equitable access to health and social services in English through the development and implementation of a number of concrete measures such as English immersion training for seven health professionals working within our public network (hospital, CLSC, long-term care facilities), translation of documents and flyers, addition of an English tab to our Web site, organization of information meetings with the English-speaking community and other activities to come. Don't hesitate to communicate directly with us or with the MCDC to share your suggestions or comments. It is very important for us to know and understand your needs and expectations. On behalf of the CSSSRT staff and myself, I would like to assure you of our complete collaboration and dedication to improving access to services in English for your community. Information at your fingertips- by Myriam Gayrard, Information Agent, MCDCSince April 2005, I have been enthusiastically working as Information Agent and acting as liaison between the MCDC and the Centre de santé et services sociaux de la région de Thetford (CSSSRT). I have also had the opportunity to meet with some of you and I will be much more present in the community during the coming months. My role is to insure that the services offered by the CSSSRT and the MCDC are well known throughout the community. I am presently developing and planning a number of activities to meet this objective : they include organizing formal or informal information meetings, creating communication tools for the community members and awareness tools for the public health institutions, updating the MCDC community directory, updating information flyers, etc... Do not hesitate to call me with any comments or suggestions which you feel could improve contacts with our health institutions. I am very much looking forward to meeting you all. Partners in Health- by Ann Marie Powell, President, MCDCWe are proud to present our first quarterly news bulletin specifically related to health issues. This first edition introduces some of the main actors in the public health sector. Future issues will introduce other players in the community sector and will provide valuable information on a variety of topics: health issues, volunteers services, access in English to new services, etc... The MCDC team has been hard at work over the last six months to lay out the foundation for a strong and meaningful partnership with service providers in the public sector. We created a regional committee so that all partners could work together and exchange ideas with one common goal in mind: how to better serve the English-speaking community. This committee, named " Partners in Health " includes, in addition to the MCDC, representatives from the Centre de santé et services sociaux de la region de Thetford, Centre Jeunesse de l'Amiante, Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis, CLSC de l'Érable, the Community Health & Social Services Network (CHSSN), Holland Centre and others. We will keep in touch with the community on a regular basis but I urge you to contact us to express your concerns, ideas, suggestions, expectations and words of praise. I, or the MCDC staff, will be happy to respond. « Back
