CHEP - Eating well to both prevent and live with diabetes

 

Elena Zhao, P.Dt., M.Sc, Nutrition Suite Supervisor at the Concordia University PERFORM Centre will present this month's CHEP.

Almost 12 million Canadians live with diabetes or prediabetes—a condition that puts you at increased risk of developing not only type 2 diabetes but also heart disease and stroke. About nine out of ten people with diabetes have type 2 diabetes. In this webinar, dietitian Elena Zhao will explain to you the effects of diabetes on your body, the small changes you can make to reduce your risk, and the basic but essential knowledge and skills you need to know about healthy eating for type 2 diabetes. She will also address some common myths about nutrition and diabetes to help you better manage the condition.

  • Understand the general recommendations regarding the intake of macro- and micronutrients, sweeteners and alcohol for people with type 2 diabetes
