Health and Social Services Community Network Bursary Program

The purpose of the Health and Social Services Community Network Bursary Program is to address the need for professionals with English and French language skills in health or social services in Quebec regions.  The Bursary Program supports students who pursue studies in health or social services and who wish to work in their home region and serve their community. The Bursary Program is part of the Retention Program.

Created by the McGill University Training and Retention of Health Professionals Project, these bursaries provide financial support to students from Quebec regions with English and French language skills pursuing full-time studies in the area of health or social services in a government recognized educational institution.

Outside Home Region: offered to students studying in an educational institution located OUTSIDE THEIR HOME REGION (for example, students living in Chaudière-Appalaches and studying in Quebec City). University $10,000, Cegep $5,000

Within Home Region: offered to students studying in an educational institution located WITHIN THEIR HOME REGION (living and studying in Chaudière-Appalaches).  University $5,000, Cegep $2,500, Vocational $2,000

NB: For each bursary awarded, recipients MUST commit to working in their home region following the successful completion of their studies for a minimum of one year in a public health or social services institution.

These return-for-service bursaries are coordinated locally by MCDC. The bursaries are designed to respond to regional and local priorities for access to services in English. Priority will be given to community-involved students whose field of study will lead them to a career in health or social services that will help address the priority service areas identified for the region.

The Bursary Program targets students who have a demonstrated commitment to and involvement in their community.
